Additional information

Small to medium size. Wings membranous, with the second pair reduced. Chewing mouthparts, vestigial in adult. Antennae setiform (filiform in the nymph). Marching legs, the first pair particularly long in males. Body ending in two long cerci and a paracerchium of variable length. Nymphs with tracheobranchia on the abdomen and legs ending in a claw.
