Habitat
Marine/Dulceaquaculture. Benthic. Anadromous. Acipenser sturio entered the Guadalquivir between January and May to breed.
Feeding
Free life. Solitary. Predator of crustaceans, molluscs and small fish.
Distribution
The genus is mainly European and Asian, some American species.

Cited as "Vulnerable" in the Libro Rojo de los Vertebrados Españoles (Red Book of Spanish Vertebrates).
Additional information
Anguilliform body up to 120 cm long, cylindrical anteriorly and laterally compressed posteriorly. Without pelvic fins.
