UGR-C.Zamora:

Collection in alcohol of aquatic insects, mainly of the order Trichoptera, which represents the biodiversity of this group in the Iberian Peninsula, mainly from its south: Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Castril, Sierra Almijara, Cazorla and Sierras de Málaga. There are also specimens from North Africa and Venezuela. Most of the specimens in the collection are larval material. We can find specimens of the typical series of 13 new species of Trichoptera and 2 of Diptera (Empididae).

UGR-F.Ruano:

Alcohol and dry collection It consists of a large number of samples of arthropods collected from olive groves and surrounding vegetation, composed of pest species and also predators and parasitoids useful for biological pest control, as well as organisms of other neutral guilds. The material comes from the olive groves of southern Spain.

UGR-F.Sánchez Piñero:

Dry collection The geographic scope of the collection is the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula and consists of approximately 8100 specimens belonging to 177 species of Scarabaeoidea (Coleoptera) and 800 specimens belonging to 57 species of Tenebrionidae (Coleoptera). We can find specimens of the typical series of 1 new species.

UGR-P.Sandoval:

Dry collection This collection comes mostly from the south of the Iberian Peninsula and some specimens from Morocco. It consists of about 500 specimens of about 60 species of Scarabaeoidea (Coleoptera) of the families Aphodiidae, Geotrupidae and Scarabaeidae. It was incorporated as a donation in 2018.

UGR-R.Yus:

Collection of dry insects (mainly Coleoptera and Lepidoptera, but also Hymenoptera, Orthoptera, Hemiptera and other orders) from the south of the Iberian Peninsula and the north of Morocco, mainly specimens from the provinces of Granada, Malaga and Melilla. Specimens were collected mainly in the 1970s and 1980s. We can find specimens of the typical series of 1 new species. It was incorporated as a donation in 2013.

UGR-A.Tinaut:

Dry and alcohol collection It consists of more than 100,000 specimens of the Family Formicidae (Hymenoptera) from the south of the Iberian Peninsula: mountains and landscapes of Andalusia, mainly Sierra Nevada, but also sierras of Baza, Alfaguara, Cazorla, Tejeda, Ronda, Sierra Blanca, the region of the Strait of Gibraltar, Doñana and the Mediterranean coast and ants from North Africa: Morocco, Asia: Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Turkey and tropical regions: India and Peru. It is one of the reference collection of formicidae worldwide with more than 300 specimens of the typical series of 27 new species. In addition, the collection is completed by a large number of microscopic slides.

UGR-O.del Junco:

Dry collections of the naturalist Olegario del Junco Rodríguez. The first of these is considered to be one of the best and most complete collections of Carabid coleoptera in Spain and is made up of 1,128 species and 12,681 specimens, 30 of which are paratypes of 12 species. The second is a magnificent collection of Scarabidae with 226 species and 2,543 specimens. It was incorporated as a donation in 2019.

UGR-L.Sánchez-Tocino:

Collection in alcohol, from the coast of Granada, comprising specimens of Heterobranch molluscs (Opisthobranchs) belonging to the superorder Sacoglossa and the orders Cephalaspidea and Nudibranchia. Of the latter there are specimens of the superfamilies Aeolidiodea, Dendronotoidea, Fionoidea and Tritonioidea.

UGR-General:

Dry and alcohol collection This collection, unlike the rest of the singular collections, is made up of different orders of insects and other arthropods. It comes from donations made by various entomologists from the UGR or other institutions, as well as material from research projects carried out in the Department of Zoology. At present, the collection has more than 18,000 catalogued specimens, mainly from the south of the Iberian Peninsula: mountains and landscapes of Andalusia, mainly from the Sierra Nevada, but also specimens from Morocco, France, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan... We can find specimens of the typical series of more than 8 new species.
