Additional information
Body dorsoventrally flattened, can reach up to 20 cm in length. The carapace covers the head and is fused with the first four segments of the thorax. The eyes are compound and pedunculate. The first five appendages of the thorax (pereiopods) are subchelate, the second pair especially developed for capturing prey.
