Habitat
They live inside silky tunnels that they build under the leaves, under stones, in the bark of trees.
Feeding
Nymphs and females are detritivorous and herbivorous, feeding on leaf litter, tree bark, lichens, or mosses, while adult males do not feed.
Distribution
They are fundamentally tropical, although they live on all continents except Antarctica.

Additional information
Elongated body, small size and dark colours. Filiform or moniliform antennae. Apex females, males with two pairs of similar wings with little venation. Legs are short and stout, the first wing is very broadened due to the presence of sericeous glands. Short, unequal cerci in males. Quasisocial insects living in silky tubes.
